The Maynor Biggers Artist Fund (MBAF) is a giving circle that pools the resources of its members and donors to invest in artists and artist companies whose use their art as a vehicle for social change. MBAF members are Hampton University alumni that have raised and/or donated money each year to award grants to a dynamic artist or arts organization(s). MBAF awardees exemplify a true commitment to shifting the narrative, raising awareness, and enhancing consciousness around societal ills in communities. MBAF members are artists, arts administrators, and community builders that are committed to creating the change they want to see in the world.

Ways to Get Involved:

  1. Become an MBAF Member:

All MBAF members are Hampton University alumni. MBAF’s memberships are confirmed annually. The membership fee is $250 and is due on Friday, November 17, 2017. Your MBAF membership fees contribute to the MBAF awards made to artist or arts organization(s).

Benefits of Annual Membership: 

  • Participation with a network of people who share similar interests and values
  • Opportunity to contribute to the MBAF working committees (e.g., artist selection and homecoming)
  • Members only social and networking events
  • 100% tax deductible donation


You can pay your annual membership fee by clicking here . The annual membership fee amount is $250. All membership fees for the 2018 MBAF circle must be submitted by Friday, November 17, 2017. Automated tax receipts will be generated for your files. Please include your mailing address so that you can receive your tax receipt.

There will be a new member welcome call on Wednesday, November 28, 2017 from 7-7:30pm. Participation details will be sent to all confirmed new members.

  1. Become an MBAF Donor:

Your MBAF donation supports our operating costs and contributes to the MBAF awards. All MBAF donations are 100% tax deductible. Automated tax receipts will be generated for donations over $250. Please include your mailing address so that you can receive your tax receipt. If you’ve donated less than $250 and want a tax receipt you may email your request to

  1. Provide Support for MBAF Operations:

The Maynor Biggers Artist Fund has received a generous amount of in-kind donations (e.g., event space), sponsorships (e.g., wine) and promotional support (e.g., radio/podcast interviews, sharing our event newsletters/fliers with your networks) from members of the community that believe in our mission.
